The Week in Ideas, June 1, 2012
This week: Aiming your Twitter rage at graduates. Banning sodas (maybe you heard something about this?). Doing the dirty work. And while it may seem like a good idea at the time, funding your new restaurant with bad checks is really never smart.
Idea #1: Vent about graduates. Boston-area restaurateurs have been taking to Twitter recently, going off on absent-minded grads. Seems restaurants in the college-heavy town are left with empty seats this time of year as graduates cancel reservations at the last minute. This is what Twitter was made for. “Dear Harvard grads who cancel your large party CONFIRMED reservations at the last minute ‘something just came up’, have fun ruling the world,” Rendezvous in Cambridge tweeted last week.
Idea #2: Reduce obesity by banning big sodas. New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg is at it again. His soda ban has inflamed everybody it seems. Pretty hard to find anybody who supports it. But here’s one.
Idea #3: Work 12 hour days, seven days a week and don’t be afraid to do dirty work. One operators secret to success in a down economy.
Idea #4: Don’t fund your start up with bad checks. Seems pretty obvious doesn’t it? Not to some.
