The Eggel Sandwich
Despite having served breakfast for over 21 years at Ina’s, on my day off I want breakfast! And, naturally, food I don’t make or serve. City Provisions makes this delicious breakfast sandwich on a homemade everything bagel with eggs, smoked Gouda and rainbow chard. With a side of duck-fat fries. It’s my day-off indulgence.
Publican Quality Meats
At the end of a busy Sunday, feeding 400+ people breakfast, I am tired and incredibly hungry. Without hesitation I head over to Publican Quality Meats, a few blocks from Ina’s, and order this salad. It’s composed of shaved smoked turkey, avocado, roasted beets, green beans, radish sprouts and Humboldt Fog cheese, all perfectly balanced and bound with green harissa. I go there thinking I’ll have something else, but succumb every time.

Two years ago, Dan Rosenthal began converting the animal proteins in his restaurants to sustainably produced and antibiotic free. This grass-fed beef burger is spectacular and (almost) guilt free!
Mochi with Grilled Cherry, Wasabi
After I had a remarkable meal of new-to-me Japanese dishes at Yusho, the chef-owner Mathias Merges delighted me with this dessert. Handmade sweet rice mochi, Michigan cherries and wasabi in white chocolate ganache with lime.
