In the shadow of New York’s skyscrapers is the city’s most urban farm, supplying fresh produce to Tom Colicchio’s Riverpark restaurant. The plot is situated on the future site of the west tower of the Alexandria Center, where construction has been stalled due to the lethargic economy. When construction resumes, the portable farm can easily move—it’s modularly built from milk crates lined with landscaper’s fabric and filled with dirt.
